     The different seasons on Akita Meijo's rice fields

Akita Meijo Co., Ltd. was established in 1918 in Yuzawa City, which is one of the top brewing regions in Japan. This region is known for its top quality rice (Akita Komachi) and abundant high quality water. The brewery was started by local politicians and entrepreneurs who joined forces to  promote the local products. 

This spirit of contributing to the local economy by providing work and sourcing local ingredients is still one of their main goals.  They put effort in using new and efficient brewing techniques while maintaining traditions and teaching them to the newer generation. Their sake’s use the own developed Akita Komachi yeast that creates fruity and aromatic sake’s.
