Hachinohe Shuzo

Hachinohe Shuzo was founded in 1775. The first generation of Shozaburo Komai started his own “Koji” shop independently. In the early 1900’s, the fifth generation of Shozaburo built up six buildings which are currently designated as a registered national tangible cultural property. They are a red brick brewery using Scottish steel and bricks, consisting of 3 Stucco warehouses and 1 wooden house. Since 2007, Hachinohe Shuzo organises the project “Ganja Natural Sake Club” and more than 1000 people have participated from all over Japan to experience rice planting, weeding, harvesting and the making of original sake.
